Tasting Notes:This vineyard is located in the very heart of the Chablis country, on the left bank of the Serein River and it benefits from an excellent south-easterly exposure. The soil is made up of kimmeridgien clay, a soil specific to the Chablis region. It is rich in fossil shells of a small oyster, Exogyra virgula, frequently found in the Chablis soil. The average age of the vines is 50 years and all harvesting is done by hand, carried by small trailers which unload the grapes by vibration to avoid crushing. The wine has an attractive, light, nutty, floral, melon, red apple, chalky citrus nose. It is ripe, round, elegant and juicy with lemon, smoky, red apple, peach pit, butter and lees flavours. A bit lean on the finish but great balance and finesse. DECANTER MAGAZINE ***** 88-91 points Allen Meadows' Burghound: "A subtle trace of pain grillé and a hint of vanilla frames fresh and spicy aromas that are quite ripe and lead to intense, precise and stony flavors that are long and quite pure. This has the mid-palate fat that should enable it to absorb the wood without difficulty. Very solid quality here."
