Crimson Pinot Noir 2010 is the wonderfully aromatic result of a cooler than normal summer and the warm, dry autumn that stretched lazily right through to May. Crushed rose-petal, light cherry, brambly notes and a hint of red licorice conspire to create an enchanting, heady fragrance. The silky smooth palate is beautifully balanced; seamless, feminine and very approachable. Sales of this popular younger-vines pinot noir support the work of PROJECT CRIMSON, the charitable conservation trust whose mission is to plant and protect New Zealand’s native pohutukawa and rata trees. Ata Rangi founder Clive Paton is a hands-on conservationist who has raised thousands of rata from seed and cuttings in his mission to bring their summer-time crimson blooms back to Wellington and the Wairarapa valley.
