Jean-Charles Boisset hankered after Lyeth, a cult winery in Sonoma, for over a decade before buying it in 1994. Originally founded in 1981, under the guidance of its winemaker, Lyeth built a formidable reputation during the 1980's for the quality of the Cabernet and Merlot blends. When Boisset bought the winery, he immediately contacted Bill Arbois and brought him back on board.
The Sonoma County Merlot is probably the most impressive of all of the wine produced at Lyeth, simply because at this price, with a Sonoma County appellation, is nigh on impossible to find.
