Bottle Description

Tasting Notes:

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Aged in barrel for 20 months. Plum and cigar box nose with some toasty oak. It's dense and rich with morello cherry, cassis and plum, cedar, hints of liquorice and creamy, toasty oak. The tannins are ripe but soft. It's that classic new world meets old world in many respects, but the fruit is definitely in the new world camp, the structure and savoury notes -old world. Whilst attractive drinking now this rich red will happily cellar for 5-10 years. The best John X for a while. Good value too.

This wine bridges the gap between new and old world styles. It has great balance of fruit and smokiness - all to often new world can be over powering on both counts.

To top it all, it is simply amazing value for money.

Tried the 2007 vintage tonight(we still have a few bottles left in the shop)with an Indonesian Chicken Satay. Coped surprisingly well with the heat of the dish for a Bordeaux style blend. The tannins have really smoothed out. Excellent fruit, balance and length. A wine to savour. Also great with the Mature French Brie we purchased from Waitrose.
