Tasting Notes:
There have been vignerons in the Raquillet family since the 1600s. Francois joined his father, Jean, in 1984 and took over entirely by the end of the 1990s. He has transformed the winemaking, introducing better quality oak barrels and substantially reducing yields. He currently works 11ha, all within the Mercurey appellation. Sourced from vines over 40 years old and benefiting from low yields, this Pinot Noir offers excellent concentration of fruit. Aromas typical of Pinot Noir with raspberry, strawberry and hints of violets.
Tim Atkin MW wrote - "One of a number of really enjoyable Chalonnaise reds I've tasted from 2009, this is aromatic and elegant with sappy tannin, red cherry and raspberry fruit and a supple, easy drinking finish."
