Description
Very few Port houses can create 40 year old Tawny Port as it requires decades of foresight to lay down wines for its production. Sandeman began their stocks in the 1850’s ahead of the curve meaning theirs is among the most nuanced and complex styles available.
Tasting: A bright tawny colour in the glass. The nose has a massive bouquet of vanilla, spice, and honey. The palate is a mouthful of spiced dried fruits and roasted nuts. The wine unfolds smoothly and reveals a superb balance of wood ageing and vibrant fruits. Serve chilled in a Jancis Robinson wine glass to allow the perfumes to express themselves.

Oliver's Review
Having scored a Gold (95 points) at this year’s IWC awards, this port boasts:
👃- Apricot, raisin, marzipan
👅- Raisin, tobacco, apple, oak
🏁- Smooth/thick, cider apple, light spice
My Rating: 9/10
This is definitely best paired with a Christmas pudding or fruity Christmas cake. A dessert with marzipan blends perfectly due to its intense fruit and nuttiness.
