Description

The Roserock Pinot Noir is a cuvée selection from the estate’s 35 blocks, which are handpicked, sorted and individually fermented. While Pinot Noirs from the Eola-Amity Hills are typically known for their structure and power, Véronique Drouhin emphasizes Roserock’s elegant and refined qualities, making for a delicious and age worthy cuvée.

Tasting Notes: The 2018 Roserock Pinot Noir is a lively, energetic expression of both the vintage and the Eola Hills. The color is a striking light garnet, darkening at the core. On the nose, I find black currant and ripe plum, followed by crushed red flowers and clove. The palate opens with intense cherry and cranberry, mixed with a hint of allspice and light notes of oak. The tannins are dusty yet elegant, blending beautifully with the fresh and bright acidity. Texture, balance, and length are all impeccable, making for a pretty wine that drinks well now but should age very nicely for 6-8 years and beyond.

Vineyard Notes: Roserock is an extraordinary vineyard at the southern tip of the Eola-Amity Hills, in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Ancient volcanic soils, an ideal elevation range, and the unique cooling effect of the Van Duzer corridor produce classic cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Roserock is LIVE-certified sustainable.

Production Notes: Our Roserock Pinot Noir is a cuvée selection from the estate’s 35 Pinot Noir blocks, which are handpicked, sorted and individually fermented. While Pinot Noirs from the Eola-Amity Hills are typically known for their structure and power, Véronique Boss-Drouhin emphasizes Roserock’s elegant and refined qualities, making for a delicious and age-worthy cuvée.

Vintage Notes: Our exceptional run of vintages here in Oregon continues with 2018. The season started on a slightly wet and cool note leading to late bud break, but caught up quickly. After dry weather and occasional heat spikes in July and August, the end of summer brought comfortable temperatures, a little rainfall, and the perfect set up for harvest.

Spring Lamb2

Perfect with spring lamb with herbs...

If you fancy red wine and the young lamb cuts are accompanied with fresh herbs like rosemary and thyme, then look no further then Pinot Noir. A fresher ‘European’ style of Pinot Noir from Burgundy or Germany will provide a juicy, red berry fruit balanced by hints of earthy notes, fine tannins and good natural acidity. Pinot Noir from Southern Hemisphere and America will provide more richness and intensity. Our personal favourite wound be this wine from Domaine Drouhin in Oregon which will certainly take your dish to another level!
