Domaine Faury is located in the tiny hamlet of Ribaudy on the upper slopes of Chavanay. Until 1980s, wine was sold here in bulk, primarily to the local population, and fruit (peaches and cherries) were also grown here. Father Philippe Faury ( the chairman of the Syndicat Condrieu until 2004) took a more international approach, and since 2006, his son Lionel (3rd generation) has taken over the business. Lionel is typical of the ‘new generation’, who trained as oenologists and then worked as apprentices in other wine-growing areas, including California.
TASTING: This dark beauty offers a liveliness and freshness that one does not often find in wines from the northern Rhone. If you like your Saint Joseph smooth as silk and imbued with violets, this one’s for you.
