Guidalberto is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot that carries the hallmark elegance and finesse that runs through Sassicaia. This wine is the younger brother of the legendary Sassicaia and, whilst it's not quite got the full power of its sibling, it's pretty darn close - making this fantastic value for what it is. It's a wine of real concentration and structure with lots of inviting ripe dark cherry and damson fruit on the nose as well as toast and spice. On the palate, there is a lovely mouth feel, beautifully balanced, with layers of cherry and wild berry fruit, stewed plums, oak, spice and dark chocolate. With very fine tannins, fresh acidity and huge length, this is an impressive wine. Twelve months in oak barrels has added complexity and, whilst approachable now, some bottle age would benefit the wine.
This wine is irresistible two years from release yet has a proven track record of ageing well into a decade.

"A deft and bright blend to serve with a platter of creamy Camembert wedges, the 2018 Guidalberto is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon supplemented with 40% Merlot, showing a smooth and silky delivery of aromas with black fruit and sour cherry backed by spice, pressed flower and tilled earth. These are fragrant and delicate results fitted to a medium-weight finish that is driven by freshness and elegant tannins. This is an important release of 415,000 bottles."
