Description

The team at Little Beauty, headed by former Cloudy Bay winemaker Evelyn Fraser, have established a reputation for producing elegant, refined and sophisticated wines. They are blessed with a unique micro-climate, nestled between the Waihopai River and the picturesque Richmond Range, which ensures excellent ripening conditions. The flavours these wines exhibit are expressive but refined – capable of being enjoyed on their own, or matching very sophisticated food. This is a one of a kind Pinot Noir, intensely aromatic; packed with aromas of raspberry, black cherry, baked red fruit compote with some savoury notes. Soft, silky tannins. A stunner with duck, lamb or dishes featuring mushrooms and fresh thyme or rosemary. This wine is currently holding top spot, New Zealand Pinot Noir by the glass, in one of London’s most stylish bars – The Beaufort Bar – at the newly renovated Savoy Hotel, London. Another fab endorsement! GOLD Medal Winner, Mundus Vini International Wine Awards and the Japan Women's Wine Awards 2020.

Chicken

Great with roast chicken...

Classic roast chicken will pair equally well with a smooth white wine as well as with a lighter red but it really depends on the flavourings / stuffing and the additional sides being served. The basic principle is that you don’t want to overpower the dish; a wine with too much ripe fruit and tannins will mask the flavours.

If it’s served simply with its own roasting juices then a lightly oaked white Burgundy (like a 1er Cru Chablis or Pouilly – Fuisse) will be the winner as it’s not too overpowering for the delicate flavour.

Lighter red wines with good acidity can make a delicious alternative, especially if there is a richer, savoury gravy served alongside. Red Burgundy or a New World Pinot Noir would be delicious. One of our favourite roast chicken parings in with no doubt this stunning Pinot from Little Beauty in Marlborough, New Zealand.
