After Goldrock was established in 2005, it quickly became one of the elite parcels for pinot noir on the west Sonoma Coast, we now bring you the 3rd vintage from this estate. Paul confesses a profound connection to Goldrock, not only being drawn by the distinctiveness of its high quality fruit, but also by the stunning setting dominated by large sentinel redwoods that stretched across the property. For Paul, Goldrock was like ‘finding a rare diamond,’ and admits he ‘wanted it more than perhaps any other vineyard’. Considered part of the ‘true’ Sonoma Coast by aficionados, the estate serves as a pillar for the winery’s future and is widely recognised as one of the last frontiers of viticulture in California.
JAMES SUCKLING Rating: 97
"This is a glorious red with density and compressed character to the mouthfeel. Pure and very focused with crushed berries, orange peel and sandalwood. Edgeless. Exciting. Tight, yet so characterful and great. Drink or hold."
THE WINE ADVOCATE Rating: 94
"The 2018 Pinot Noir Goldrock Estate has a medium ruby-purple color and is shy to begin, revealing hints of fresh cranberries, tar, blackberries, blood orange and oolong tea leaves. The medium-bodied palate is packed with juicy fruits, wrapped in a fresh, silky frame and finishing very long. 801 cases produced. Drink: 2020 - 2026." - Erin Brooks, 23rd Jul 2020.
