The late Jim Clendenen made some of California's best chardonnay's and this is a great way into his style. Grapes from across Santa Barbara County are barrel fermented in French wood, although only a small percentage new, which has led to an intense apple and lemon-scented chardonnay with great mouthfeel and length. At this young age, this wine would be perfect with shellfish or poultry. It will improve for at least 10 years and as it evolves, try this wine with chanterelle mushroom pasta and be amazed.
