Jim Clendenen, the “Mind Behind” Au Bon Climat, creates internationally recognized, Burgundian-focused wines of balance and intrigue – but in California. Au Bon Climat has been making balanced, food friendly Chardonnays since 1982. Even in the early 2000s when ripe, oaky Chardonnays were all the rage, Au Bon Climat stuck to a more subtle and refined style, with minerality and intensity well balanced. “Wild Boy” is made in a full, rich style but still retains a fine balance between the ripe fruit with its tropical fruit flavours, toasty oak and supporting minerality and acidity. Jim “Wild Boy” Clendenen at his very best! It makes a great accompaniment to turbot, salmon, roast chicken and shellfish.
