Greywacke is the exciting new solo venture of Kevin Judd, who was chief winemaker at Cloudy Bay for 25 vintages and instrumental in the international recognition which New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc enjoys today. Greywacke emphasise ripeness in the vineyard to produce a sophisticated and satisfying style of Sauvignon Blanc. Crafted by former Cloudy Bay founding winemaker Kevin Judd, with able assistance from Richard Ellis, the fruit comes from the Central Wairau and Southern Valleys. Supremely pure aromas and complex bouquet of tropical fruits, passionfruit, guava and apple.
Tastes - 2019 vintage: Yellow- fleshed peaches, rock melon and blackcurrant alongside lemon icing, chamomile and hints of rose petal – this is a delicately perfumed and deliciously ripe-fruited interpretation of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The palate is both subtle and textural, showing considerable ripeness and concentration, with a crisp and long, juicy finish.
