Morgadio da Torre was launched in the late 1990s. The estate has a long history; it was founded by Cristovao de Castro in 1603 but is now owned by Mafalda da Cunha Guedes and her siblings. The vineyards are furthest from the Atlantic, resulting in hotter summers and giving wines with greater weight than is found in the rest of the DOC. The region has developed around the hillsides on the south bank of the River Minho, and has granitic soils with some gravel bands.
Lemon yellow in appearance with youthful hints of green. The nose opens with fresh aromas of peach, pineapple and jasmine blossom. The fruit is supported by mineral notes as well as excellent acidity and a rich texture from the lees ageing. The finish is elegant and long.
