Morgadio da Torre was launched in the late 1990s. The estate has a long history; it was founded by Cristovao de Castro in 1603 but is now owned by Mafalda da Cunha Guedes and her siblings. The vineyards are furthest from the Atlantic, resulting in hotter summers and giving wines with greater weight than is found in the rest of the DOC. The region has developed around the hillsides on the south bank of the River Minho, and has granitic soils with some gravel bands.
This wine is pale yellow in colour, with youthful hints. On the nose, there are intense aromas of ripe peach, pineapple and jasmine blossom. The fruit is supported by mineral notes as well as lively acidity. The finish is elegant and long.
