We are excited to be able to offer a number of rare Madeiras from Vinhos Barbeito. Ricardo de Freitas is the third generation of his family to run the small company of Vinhos Barbeito and he has been picking up awards by the handful for his work. Barbeito make canteiro wines, which undergo natural cask maturation, with the heat and air used for maturation coming from natural conditions, as opposed to the artificial method of maturation known as estufagem. Their philosophy is to offer 100% canteiro wines, with no added caramel or deacidification. This Malvasia is super-fresh, without any cloying notes, but with a generosity on the palate.
