We are very pleased to announce the start of the highly anticipated 2020 Bordeaux En-Primeur campaign, one which promises to be as exciting as it is different in our new post-brexit, mid-covid world.

Not having had the chance to travel to Bordeaux to taste we are very reliant on several key factors namely; pedigree, reputation, consistency and critics and the critics seem to like it.

“Fons Brogiera: a spring surrounded by heather”. This was the first mention of the name Fombrauge which, for 6 centuries now, has epitomised the elegance of the Grand Cru Classé wines of Saint Emilion. From the Canolle family in the 15th century to Bernard Magrez today, six families have succeeded each other in owning and running Château Fombrauge, providing the estate, which harvested its first grapes in 1599, with a rare stability and a pioneering spirit beyond compare.

Discover this estate, which is not only the largest Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Emilion in terms of surface area but also a window on the history of France.

10 Apr, 2021 – "This is really finely textured with beautiful tannins that run the length of the wine and go on and on. It’s full-bodied, yet refined and poised. Pretty finish. Best ever?"

"Confident and structured, offering a velvet texture and dense plum and blackberry fruits, plenty of punch with ground coffee on the finish. Now one of the largest estates in St-Emilion at 58ha. Olivier Desmond technical director. Drinking Window 2026 - 2040."

Drink: 2026 - 2042
"Full embossed bottle a naughty 1,565 g. Bernard Magrez doesn't seem inclined to furnish much information so this is an undated cask sample.
Dark lustrous blackish crimson. Aromatic and then very sweet palate entry with some pretty emphatic tannins and acid sort of bolted on at the end. Extremely concentrated and flattering with impressive persistence. A little savoury quality on the end so this is not sickly. This could be very appealing. So of course, as usual, I am scoring it without taking the bottle weight into account."
