Chanzy is a 80 hectare Estate, divided between Côte Chalonnaise, Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits with their base in Bouzeron. In 2017 Philippe Der Megreditchian purchased this historic Estate and set about a radical overhaul. The vineyards are in conversion to organics and will be certified from 2024 vintage onwards.
From the cool, high altitude (390m) monopole vineyard, this is a much fresher take on the vintage. A slightly higher percentage of whole bunch, perhaps nearer 40%, we really enjoyed this crunchy aromatic pinot. Layers of redcurrant and cranberry intertwined with some darker mulberry fruit and well integrated oak. This will probably be one of the earlier reds to start drinking from this selection over the next few years.
