Description

Niepoort Vertente Bee is a red wine from the Douro which was launched to celebrate the bee and its important as their role as key pollinators. Niepoort recognises that bees form an important part of our ecosystem and is actively try to keep this species alive. Vertente uses the younger vineyards (25 years old) of Quinta de Nápoles, on the slopes of the river Tedo, where Touriga Franca and Tinta Amarela are predominant. Some older vines (60 years plus), bringing Tinta Roriz and others, contribute to the elegance of this wine, while the younger vines give it youth. Despite being made to be consumed young, it does has great ageing potential.

TASTING: A brilliant ruby red colour of medium intensity clothes this Vertente and its typical 2018 characteristics. Its nose is still very youthful, with notes of graphite, fruits of the forest and some black plum mingling with some added complexity from the wood. Its fine and deeply refreshing flavour profile provides tension and complexity on the palate, making the Vertente 2018 a truly elegant wine, with a pleasant finish. This wine will undoubtedly age beautifully in the bottle.
