Chateau Valandraud is the fruit of an incredible amount of work done by a couple: Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud, passionated by the world of wines. Following the great success with their wine merchant business in Saint Emilion, they ambitioned to have their own vineyard and produce their own wine. Wine "Virginie de Valandraud", which is the second wine of Chateau Valandraud economy, has long been no one calls the "second" because, due to its superior quality and impeccable taste characteristics, it will be considered on a par with pevruyu wine - "Chateau de Valandraud". The rich aroma of the wine is filled with tones of currant, mocha and espresso, grasses, supplemented walnut and oak notes.
James Suckling, WineSpectator.com, April 2010 - 90-93 points - “Intense aromas of mineral, toasty oak and dried flowers, with cool and dark fruits. Full-bodied, with a lovely silky texture and a racy, fine finish. Serious for the second wine of Valandraud.”
Stands as a perfect accompaniment to lamb and beef, aged cheeses, game, grilled red meat, beans, grilled meats, stews.
