Unquestionably one of the greatest names in Alsace, the Trimbach family has been involved in making wine since 1626. Based in the picturesque gingerbread town of Ribeauvillé, they have built an enviable reputation over 13 generations. The dry Trimbach style is one geared up for gastronomy, buzzing with tension and able to age with grace and finesse. This is sourced entirely from Grand Cru fruit and sees the utmost attention in the winery. Great fruit in the hands of great winemakers is a recipe for success but the proof is, ultimately, in the wine. And this nails it.
The ageing that this has already undergone at Trimbach's cellars is manifest in its bright - almost Chartreuse - golden yellow. It has wonderfully deep, enticing aromas of candied lemons, lime marmalade, quince, pineapple, chamomile and honey. Its fabulously satisfying, rich texture in the mouth is kept fresh by zesty acidity and enlivened by intriguing notes of beeswax, pine forest, pineapple and lemon. The wealth of fruit character creates an impression of sweetness, however it is in fact pretty much bone dry. Absolutely - and gloriously - ready to enjoy now, this could be cellared for many more years if desired.
Delicious with fish, poultry and veal and sea scallops. Traditionally served in Alsace with goose and pork and with Alsacian meats.
