DECANTER 92 points
Tasted by Jane Anson at Bordeaux, 20 May 2020
Firm and slightly subdued tannins that build fairly quickly over the palate. There is an austerity and a clear liquorice wash over the cassis and blackberry fruits that should soften and fill out over ageing. 30% new oak. Drinking Window 2024 - 2040.
THE WINE ADVOCATE 90-92
The 2019 Lagrange (Pomerol) has a deep garnet-purple color and a decadently scented nose of stewed plums, baked black cherries and fruitcake plus hints of spice box, star anise, tobacco leaf and bouquet garni with a waft of chargrill. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is completely filled with opulent black fruits, supported by soft, approachable tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long and spicy.
JAMES SUCKLING 92-93 Points
19 May, 2020 – Lots of blueberries, blackberries, dark chocolate and stones. It’s medium-bodied, refined and polished.
JANCIS ROBINSON 16
Drink: 2024 - 2030
100% Merlot. Barrel sample.
Round, gourmand and come hither. Generous summer-fruit aroma and flavour. Plenty of flesh on the palate with a hint of vanilla oak. Slightly sandy tannins on the finish. Simple but rewarding. (JL)
