Winnica Silesian is a family business spanning over three generations, with a background in horse breeding. Ultra traditional and a young start-up vibe blend in here so fantastically. The idea of the winery became a reality in 2018, when Sonia and husband Esben left the United Kingdom to pursue a career in winemaking. All grapes were hand-harvested October 13, 2019, destemmed and gently pressed straight away, allowed to cold settle for 24 hours, then fermented with EU-certified organic yeast, with the wine being racked off its lees on November 13, post fermentation. Further maturation 24 months in a steel tank till bottling in November 2021.
The label features two of grandpa Kazik’s Silesian horses, from which the winery get's its name. Silesian horses are strong and elegant, making skilled sport horses due to their harmonious build and balanced temperament.
Nose: Aromatic notes of linden, lime, quince, with emerging wax and petrol notes. Palate: Fresh and medium bodied, typical of the variety, with invigorating acidity and dryness. The granite slate terroir of the Weisser Riesling plot is expressed in the wine’s mineral, salty finish.
