Bruno Paillard's vintage blanc de blancs tends to be a rather different beast compared to the zippy, clear-fruited non-vintage; with 25% vinified in oak and given extended ageing it makes the most of the dynamic intensity of the fruit from Le Mesnil and Oger, wrapping it in a developed, broad aromatic range of roasted lemon, apricot and toasted nut, yet remaining narrow, charry and racy on the palate. This is a citric, bristling vintage, but the outgoing style really warms up the innate tension.
VINOUS 94 points
The 2013 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs, sourced from Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, is layered and expressive right out of the gate. The fruit intensity and flavor profile of the vintage are immediately apparent in a Champagne that blossoms beautifully on the mid-palate and into the finish. Here, too, the balance is impeccable. Dried pear, spice, menthol, dried flowers and a touch of oak linger on the soft-spoken finish. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: September, 2021. - Antonio Galloni

Disgorged in September 2021 with a dosage of 4.5 grams per liter, Bruno Paillard’s 2013 Blanc de Blancs Millésimé offers a bright and pure bouquet with aromas of verbena, spring flowers, citrus and chalky-mineral notes. Medium to full-bodied, precise and crystalline, tense, rich and perfectly balanced, it’s vibrant with a long, persistent finish. In a word: exquisite!
