*****

Dom Perignon only creates vintage wines; it is an absolute commitment. Only the best grapes of the most exceptional years are used, making each vintage distinct. The icon of the Moet house, it showcases perfect equilibrium, revealing the harmony that is so characteristic of Dom Perignon. The wine is complete, rhythmic and tactile.

JAMES SUCKLING: 98 points - "The best Dom since 2002.....super fresh and intense aromas of lemons, grapefruit and blood-orange peel. Incredible freshness here. The palate has a very smoothly delivered, berry-pastry thread with light, sweet spices, stone fruit and fine citrus fruit. This really delivers. Drink now or hold."

DECANTER 98 points
Tasted by: John Stimpfig (at Decanter's 2018 Fine Wine Encounter Dom Pérignon Masterclass, London, 03 Nov 2018) Part of Wines of the Year 2021: the top Classic wines

Departing chef de cave Richard Geoffroy quite rightly calls 2008 ‘the miracle year'. Perfect ripening allowed the longest ever harvest, with four weeks available to select when, where and what to pick. The result is a magnificently complex and deceptively approachable DP, with wonderful aromatics from the off. On the palate it's very young, with classically sweet and bright citrus and oyster shell notes together with honey and nougat. This is very lithe, supple and long, with fabulous acidity and éclat. Until a couple of years ago the '08 was quite tight, but recently it has really opened up, according to Geoffroy. This can be enjoyed now but will also age effortlessly for many years yet.

THE WINE ADVOCATE 96
Drink Date 2020 - 2040 - Unquestionably the finest Dom Pérignon of the decade, the 2008 Dom Pérignon is drinking brilliantly today, wafting from the glass with notes of citrus oil, ripe orchard fruit, peach, buttered toast, pastry cream, iodine and smoky reduction. Full-bodied, rich and fleshy, it's vinous and layered, with a deep core of sweet fruit, racy acids and a long, saline finish. The 2008 is aging very gracefully.
