Description

Nyetimber Vineyard pioneered the UK's recent rise to fame and recognition for its ability to be taken seriously at international level. The estate was conceived, planted and equipped exclusively for the production of top-quality sparkling wines. Just over fourteen hectares (thirty-five acres) of gentle, south-facing slopes of greensand soil were planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, the classic varieties of the Champagne region.

Crafted from the most expressive parcels, pressed from grapes of the finest vintage years, 1086 2013 is complex and indulgent with sublime texture. A masterclass in decadence.

With unmatched complexity, elegance, and poise, 1086 is characterised by its exceptional balance. 2013 was a vintage of pleasingly temperate conditions, with a fresh spring and summer, and calm conditions throughout, allowing for the gradual ripening and layered flavour development. Rich red apple, peach, and white rose petals meld with almond and clotted cream in a long, refined finish.

With more texture and richness than any other wine in the Nyetimber range – acidity, length and texture are all beautifully judged and combine seamlessly on the palate.

Matthew Jukes June 2024 - "I was a massive fan of the 2010 Nyetimber 1086 release, which showed total class and control from the off. How a wine with these dimensions can be so well-balanced is beyond me. So, it was with bated breath that I approached the newly released 2013 vintage. This is an even more detailed and sensual wine. The depth of fruit is astounding, and, once again, Cherie Spriggs works her magic in inlying the impossibly grand fruit with filigree mouth-watering acidity and verve. As an aside, I hosted a wine dinner in Geneva at a world-class restaurant last week. They asked me to pick a Champagne to kick off the evening, and I decided that the most impactful and delicious wine I wanted to introduce to the audience was MV Nyetimber Rosé. The audience was floored, and the Chef Sommelier was so taken with the flavour he promised to list this incredible wine at the soonest opportunity. Come on, England!"
