This edition features an increased alcohol strength of 46.3%, along with a commitment to quality that includes no chill-filtration and no added colouring. This allows the whisky to express its true character, showcasing a delicate balance of flavours, including honey, vanilla, and almonds, enriched by subtle maritime notes. A Deeper Dive;

Bunnahabhain Distillery

Bunnahabhain ranks among the oldest single malt distilleries in existence. Established in 1881 by blender William Robertson in collaboration with brothers William and James Greenlees, the distillery and the town of Bunnahabhain were developed together, ensuring that vital roads and homes were constructed for the distillery's workers and their families.

Production officially commenced in 1883, and nearly 150 years later, Bunnahabhain remains true to the traditional whisky production techniques that have changed little since the early days when Robertson and the Greenlees brothers discovered the stunning, rugged beauty of this isolated corner of north-eastern Islay.

The malt is sourced from various companies on the mainland, with storage capacity reaching up to 900 tonnes. Bunnahabhain’s primary expressions are aged predominantly in sherry casks, celebrated for their unpeated character, natural colour, and non-chill filtration.

With a current production capacity of around 3.3 million litres of alcohol annually, Bunnahabhain distillery draws its spring water from the Margadale River, which flows near its grounds. The facility accommodates approximately 14,600 casks across its dunnage and racked-style warehouses. Featuring an impressive mash tun that holds up to 15 tonnes of grain, the distillery is equipped with the tallest stills on Islay, characterised by their long swan necks that create a lighter and more refined flavour profile.
