Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon was established in 1999 when the famed Lafon family of Meursault purchased a small estate in Milly-Lamartine. Their enthusiasm for the project has grown ever since, as has the domaine: today it covers 26 hectares in the most prestigious appellations of the Mâconnais, all farmed biodynamically. The estate is overseen day-to-day by winemaker Elsie Moore, in close consultation with Pierre and Léa Lafon.
The 2024 was a challenging vintage for them with significant proportion of the crop lost to mildew. Despite this, and the limited sunshine during the season, the team worked hard to make sure the grapes ripened. Helped along by some August sun, they achieved a healthy crop, with alcohol levels around 12.5% at harvest. Elsie is a big fan of the vintage, which she finds less austere and more complete than 2021.

Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine was fermented and aged mostly in foudre, with 15% in demi-muids. This wine always has a fresh and nervy feel, which is dialled up another notch here. It has plenty of concentrated citrus fruit, along with a pithy, salty texture that grips the palate through to a dry, palate-cleansing finish. Steely and mineral, not dissimilar to Chablis.

:"The 2024 Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine was picked at the end of the harvest. It offers apple blossom and pear scents mixed with light granitic notes. The palate is nicely balanced with lemon and lime notes, a lilting Mâconnais wine with decent length on the finish."
