Description

First produced in 1966, Geyserville is Ridge’s longest continuous Zinfandel bottling and one of California’s most historic field blends. The wine is sourced from three adjoining vineyards planted on ancient gravelly loam soils deposited by a prehistoric washout of the Russian River. Vines range from 15 to over 125 years old, contributing remarkable depth, complexity and a distinctive sense of place.

The 2024 vintage followed a rainy winter, a mild spring and a warm summer, all of which advanced ripening. Harvest began early, running from 30 August to 14 September. After malolactic fermentation, individual lots were selected, assembled and racked to air-dried American oak barrels, where the wine aged for sixteen months. The result is a classic expression of Geyserville — layered, structured and shaped by its unique microclimate and field-blend heritage.

This year marks an important evolution, with “Vineyard” added to the front label to distinguish the historic Geyserville Vineyard from the surrounding town. The 2024 wine opens with aromas of raspberry, vanilla and liquorice. The palate is focused and expressive, offering black cherry, nutmeg and subtle spice, supported by fine tannins, balanced acidity and a long, persistent finish. This is a harmonious, ageworthy Geyserville that reflects both the character of its old vines and the complexity of its traditional field blend.
