Argiano is currently managed by Sebastiano Rosa, who learnt his trade in California, and has undertaken winemaking stints at Lafite-Rotschild and Sassicia. Located on a south-facing limestone plateau high on the famous Montalcino hill in Tuscany, these structured and sophisticated wines benefit from extensive crop-thinning in the summer and very careful fruit selection at harvest. Careful winemaking and three years in oak adds body and finesse.
A selection of vineyard plots aged between 15-60 years old on clay-limestone dominant soils. Aged in traditional Slavonian barrels for 30 months, followed by further bottle ageing before release.
JAMES SUCKLING 95 points
Delightful aromas of juicy red cherries, strawberries, rose petals and wild bush, together with hints of juniper and ground herbs. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and crisp acidity. Zesty and piquant with beautiful balance and finish. Plenty of fruit at the end. Give it more time to come around. Try after 2027.
