Description
The day to day running of the estate is now in the hands of François Ambroise and his sister Ludivine. The reputation built by their father Bertrand over four decades for rich, opulent, full-bodied wines remains but François has injected more elegance and recent vintages have greater freshness and finesse. François picks a little earlier than in the past with the 2022 harvest running from 25th August (starting with the whites) to 12th September with most of the Nuits Saint Georges vineyards picked on the 4th, 5th and 6th September. The red bunches are 100% destemmed and François continues to use a high proportion of new oak when ageing the top red wines.
The hill of Corton Le Rognet produces the best value red Grands Crus in the Côte d’Or. Le Rognet lies on the east-facing slope above the village of Ladoix and gives wonderful, rich, opulent wines. This is full of red and black fruits and is aged in 100% new oak barrels from tonnelleries Billon, Remond and Tremeaux. Drink 2029-2038.
