Borja Pérez is a rising star in the Tenerife wine scene, having transformed his family winery into a beacon of innovation and quality. The Artífice Tinto is a beautiful expression of 100% Listán Negro from ten distinct parcels. Crafted using whole-cluster fermentation, in which the grapes are destemmed before maceration. Full of vibrant Atlantic character with fresh, juicy flavours and an elegant, medium-bodied palate. Aromas of floral notes and peppery spice are complemented by volcanic nuances and a fine-grained texture. It has been aged in concrete, foudres, and used barrels and is a perfect companion for food cooked over flames. With a moderate 12% alcohol and fewer than 10,000 bottles made, it offers a beautiful balance and remarkable drinking experience over the next 5 years.

This former race car mechanic is a rising star in the Tenerife wine scene. Inheriting the family wine business, Borja decided to take the seaside winery in a bold new direction. Refocusing on local varieties, Borja restored old ungrafted vines back to full health, reviving the grapes, farming them organically and workingwith skill in the cellar, Borja developed a reputation as one of the best viticulturists in the Canary Islands.

The volcanic, maritime vineyards are in the rich and biodiverse DO appellation Ycoden-Daute-Isora in Tenerife’s north west. The vineyards here range from low coastal elevations to around 800m on average, with the most extreme sites climbing as high as 1,400m! The vines' proximity to the cooling winds of the Atlantic and its natural humidity produce an amazing yet challenging climate for wine production. In the cellar, Borja takes a low-intervention approach, with nothing added to the wines except for a touch of sulphur at bottling.

Artífice Tinto is 100% Listán Negro from 10 different parcels. It uses 100% whole cluster (with stems), but the grapes are first destemmed and then the stems are reintroduced during maceration. Aging takes place in concrete, foudres, and used barrels.
