Beautifully expressive aromatics, really jump from the glass, alive and nuanced, floral, fruity - rosehip, cranberry, cardamom, cinnamon. Supple and lithe, this has movement to it which is so nice. Not super tense and straight, not dense and chewy, somewhere in-between with bright, mouth-watering acidity that lifts the expression. Hints of chalky minerality on the finish brings it back to focus with a moreish aspect. Tannins are great, barely noticeable but still giving the frame and support to the structure. Well delivered. Gorgeous purity, balance and harmonious, really lovely drinking here.
VINOUS 91-93 points
The 2021 Le Carillon d'Angélus offers a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, hints of cedar and clove, and even a touch of pain d'épices. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, a fine bead of acidity, good weight and freshness and a suave and very harmonious finish. I have remarked on the melioration of Carillon in the last two years, and this continues that trend. - Neal Martin
JAMES SUCKLING 92 points
This delicious wine is crunchy and crisp with plums, redcurrants, flowers and light cedar. Medium body, juicy tannins and a fresh finish. 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc. Drink or hold.

The 2021 Le Carillon d'Angélus offers up aromas of dark berries, grilled plums, espresso roast, sweet soil tones and cigar wrapper, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered palate that's deep and concentrated, with lively acids, chalky tannins and a long, youthfully oak-inflected finish. Like its big sibling, it's closed with a natural cork.
JANCIS ROBINSON 16+ points
Pure and fleshy with a tension running through the wine. Going through its prise de bois so rather hard and dry on the finish. Awkward but fresh and long. Should improve with élevage. (JL)

Chateau Angélus
Nestled in the centre-west of the St Emilion appellation, Chateau Angélus spans 39 hectares and is located less than a kilometre from the renowned medieval steeple. The estate benefits from a south-facing slope that enhances grape cultivation.
On the lower sections, Cabernet Franc flourishes in sandy, warmer soils, while the upper areas are predominantly planted with Merlot, which thrives in the clay enriched with limestone. This diverse terroir, paired with the estate’s careful vineyard management, contributes to the unique and aromatic character of Angélus wines, known for their richness, structure, and remarkable ageability.
