Part of Best Margaux 2019 wines tasted en primeur
"I've been thoroughly enjoying the work that they are doing at Marquis d'Alesme in recent vintages and this very much continues the success. Sappy, juicy, well defined raspberry and blackberry fruits, concentrated in all the right places, with a saline finish that is both mouthwatering and moreish. Winemaker Marjolaine de Coninck has steered the property through the heat of the summer and got the balance just right. Harvest September 26 to October 12. Drinking Window 2028 - 2044."
THE WINE ADVOCATE 92-94
"The 2019 Marquis d'Alesme Becker is a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot, harvested from the 26th of September to the 12th of October. It has an alcohol of 14% and is being aged in French oak barrels, 50% new. Very deep purple-black colored, it charges out of the gate with bold notions of baked blackberries, warm cassis and plum preserves plus hints of dried Provence herbs, cracked black pepper, woodsmoke and hoisin. The medium-bodied palate has bags of freshness and a ripe, grainy-textured frame supporting the generous black fruits, finishing long and savory."
