Chanzy is a 80 hectare Estate, divided between Côte Chalonnaise, Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits with their base in Bouzeron. In 2017 Philippe Der Megreditchian purchased this historic Estate and set about a radical overhaul. The vineyards are in conversion to organics and will be certified from 2024 vintage onwards.
This large premier cru site (37ha) has many different micro terroirs and this cuvee is taken from 4 different parcels. 40% of the wine is whole bunch fermented, and 15% is fermented in new oak; the resulting wine is packed with ripe wild raspberry and damson fruit. Medium-bodied and fragrant with a supple, appealing texture. Fresh and vibrant now, this will soon develop savoury complexity as it ages and should continue to do so gracefully for 5-10+ years.
This was one of our stand out reds from the tasting owing to its balance and fine tannins.
