Description

Max Blondelle and his team have an impressive array of vineyards to work with, taking in 38 appellations, including four Grands Crus and 13 Premiers Crus, and five “clos”, two of which form part of the monopole Chanzy vineyard. This collection features top sites in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. But the Chanzy name is particularly strong in the Côte Chalonnaise. Within this village Chanzy is the proud possessor of arguably the finest Aligoté vineyard in Burgundy, their monopole site ‘Clos de la Fortune.’

Over recent years Chanzy have invested in securing a sustainable environment for the future. Today, they are one of the few Burgundy producers to achieve Haute Valeur Environnementale Level 3 – the most highly regarded certification for sustainable agriculture in France.

The 'Clos de Bellecroix' site borders Chagny and faces gently north meaning it’s almost always the last vineyard to be picked. This is a serious and concentrated style of Rully, with very distinctive aromas of lavender, mandarin, spices of clove and black pepper, and a touch of incense. The palate has a tightly knit structure, with a medley of hedgerow and black berried fruit. Great depth of flavour and mouth-watering acidity, this wine still feels young and will unravel with time, developing well as some of those richer flavours mature into more complex and interesting notes. Lots of potential.
