*****

Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is a prestigious winery located in the Pessac-Léognan region of Bordeaux, classified as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves. Renowned for producing exceptional white wines, the estate spans approximately 30 hectares and is primarily planted with Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon grapes, with a smaller percentage of Sauvignon Gris.

Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is celebrated for its elegant, vibrant, and complex wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Graves, characterised by gravelly soils and a temperate climate. The winemaking process involves careful hand-harvesting, fermentation in oak barrels, and a significant period of ageing, allowing the wines to develop rich fruit flavours, floral notes, and a refreshing acidity. With consistent praise from critics, Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is highly regarded among collectors and wine enthusiasts, offering a refined and memorable expression of white Bordeaux.

JAMES SUCKLING 98 points
This is extremely long and polished with beautiful silky tannins that keep rolling down the palate. Medium-bodied, it shows currants, blackberries, minerals and crushed stones. Crunchy. Such finesse and structure at the same time. An honest and transparent wine with greatness. Drink after 2029.

Drink Date: 2028 - 2048
Commemorating his 40th harvest at the helm of the estate, Olivier Bernard has crafted a wine of abundant promise. Evoking aromas of dark wild berries, spices, smoke and licorice, framed by a deft touch of new oak, the 2022 Domaine de Chevalier possesses a medium to full-bodied, concentrated and rich palate, with an elegant, fleshy core of fruit, abundant powdery tannins and a long, delicate and dark berry-inflected finish. Noticeably less toasty and spicy than in the previous year, this estate has positively evolved in style. Matured for 18 months in a combination of new (35%) and used barrels, the 2022 is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.

WINE ENTHUSIAST 96 points
Dark chocolate and tobacco aromas and ripe black fruits show the class of this wine. It is succulent, sustained by wood aging and sure to age well. Owned by the Bernard family, this estate is among the elite of the appellation. Drink from 2028. — Roger Voss

VINOUS 96 points
The 2022 Domaine de Chevalier bursts from the glass with enticing blackberry, incense and blueberry aromas that do not hold back. Despite the intensity, it retains superb delineation and focus, with beautifully integrated oak. The medium-bodied palate is packed with black fruit laced with graphite and a dash of black pepper. Very well balanced, it is unequivocally one of the most powerful wines I have encountered from Domaine de Chevalier without compromising its classicism. This is outstanding. - Neal Martin

DECANTER - 95 Points

"Lovely detail and precision with plump, ripe fruit, good concentration and intensity, mouthfilling tannins that have a lovely texture and overall length. Feels really well made, structured and vibrant, not taken too far with a really appealing flavour and texture. Just lovely, fresh, lifted, still concentrated with underlying power but delivered seamlessly. A brilliant, compelling, utterly moreish wine. 2% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. A yield of 40hl/ha. Harvest 15 September - 5 October. Ageing 18 months; 33% new barrels, 65% one and two wine. In organic conversion. Derenoncourt consultants." - Georgina Hindle Apr 23

THE WINE ADVOCATE - 94-96 Points

"A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Domaine de Chevalier delivers aromas of minty dark berries, cherries and ripe plums mingled with hints of licorice, coniferous forest and spices. Medium to full-bodied, it’s concentrated and layered, textured and elegant, framed by powdery tannins and concluding with a long, penetrating, long finish. Olivier Bernard and his team have crafted an outstanding wine that will bear a special label commemorating his 40th vinification at this Péssac-Léognan reference point." - Yohan Castaing, 28th Apr 2023
