More shuttered than his Charmes, which Mazoyères often tends to be, this hails from a single, 68-year-old parcel close to Latricières-Chambertin. It's savoury, focussed and well balanced, with enticing fruit sweetness and a fresh, tapering finish. Made without new oak again.

From: 2017 Burgundy: A Modern Classic (Jan 2019)
The 2017 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru has a vibrant bouquet with mineral-rich dark berry fruit laced with subtle incense and estuarine aromas. This is beautifully defined and much more engaging and complex compared to the Charmes-Chambertin. The palate is well balanced with filigree tannin, quite saline in the mouth; refined and energetic. It exudes the profundity that this vineyard can bestow. Bravo - this is a great wine from Jean-Marie Fourrier. - By Neal Martin on November 2018
THE WINE ADVOCATE (92 - 94+) points
While it isn't the grandest appellation in the cellar, the 2017 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru gets my nod as the finest of these négociant offerings from Jean-Marie Fourrier. Unfurling in the glass with notes of currant leaf, smoked meats and cassis, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with velvety tannins, tangy acids and, above all, a sense of completeness that sets it apart. Fourrier told me that it derives from a parcel of especially old vines. - William Kelley, 04/2019
