Description
We love wines that like to surprise. The incredible diversity of Burgundy's terroirs, and the Pinot Noir grape's ability to express these variations like a musical instrument, are among Burgundy's most beautiful characteristics. So, when we think of Pommard, we expect structured, powerful, and concentrated wines. This "Frémiers" vineyard, located on the border of Volnay, combines these characteristics with a freshness and smoothness that are sure to surprise.
The harvest is done by hand. Careful sorting of the berries at the winery, combined with the exceptional quality of this 2018 vintage, allowed us to select the finest bunches and retain 25% whole clusters. A long maceration with regular punch-downs preserves the integrity of the stems. The young wines are then transferred to barrels after pressing for 18 months of aging (40% new oak).
A lovely red color with a hint of mauve. A very beautiful and expressive nose with delicate floral aromas of rose and wild rose, wild berries (rosehip, tart red fruits), rooibos, hibiscus, and cranberry. A lovely attack on the palate with freshness followed by a perception of tannin and pleasant acidity, with notes of wood (fruit trees, bark) and spices (thyme, juniper). The finish shows a certain structure with beautifully ripe tannins typical of the 2018 vintage, a sign of excellent aging potential.
