Description
The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Porrets Saint Georges has received notable acclaim, earning 92 points from The Wine Advocate. William Kelley highlights its complex bouquet, which features aromas of wild berries, forest floor, grilled game, and raw cocoa, framed by cedary new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with a layered, velvety texture for a young Clos des Porrets, showcasing ripe tannins, tangy acidity, and a long, succulent finish. Vinous awarded it 90-92 points, describing its attractive nose of black cherries, bilberry jam, and a hint of licorice. While it may lack some charm at present, the wine's structure and grip suggest that it will benefit from additional aging, with a drinking window extending to 2040.

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets-Saint Georges 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet of black cherries, bilberry jam, a touch of blue fruit and just a hint of licorice. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit. There is an initial burst and then everything clamps back down so that the second half is structured and grippy. Lacks a little charm at the moment, but give this time in bottle. - By Neal Martin on October 2018
