"Due to be bottled the following week, the 2013 Volnay 1er Cru les Champans has a flattering bouquet of redcurrant, cranberry and pomegranate fruit interlaced with undergrowth aromas that lend it a slightly rustic feel. The palate is medium-bodied with red cherries, orange rind and a hint of marmalade. It needs just a little more harmony on the finish but that should come with bottle age. The persistence at the moment is very promising…I can still feel this a minute after the wine has departed."
