Description
Sesti is one of the most delightfully individual producers in Armit's portfolio. Founder
Giuseppe describes himself as 'eclectic by nature', and ran a Baroque Opera festival
for thirty years while restoring the castle that features on their labels, and
developing the vineyards. He has devoted himself to the study of astronomy, a
subject on which he has published no fewer than five books, and Sesti considers the
The influence of the moon is indispensable to viticulture. The 13 hectares of vineyards are
located in a unique micro-climate in the southern part of Montalcino, surrounded by
forests, and on soils of layered oceanic sediment, producing elegant Sangiovese with
a distinct floral note.

"Lustrous ruby. A simply stunning, complex nose of taut cherry layered with garden herbs. Lots of juice that is fantastically balanced by gorgeous, fine-grained tannins. Complete." (WS)

"Drinking Window: 2025 - 2037 - Planted in 1986 on Montalcino’s southern slopes, Sesti’s 13 hectares are freshened by an eastward tilt, constant breezes and surrounding woodlands. Ripeness allies with brightness, particularly in this 2019, which recalls the joyfulness of the estate’s IGT and Rosso di Montalcino counterparts but with the gravitas of Brunello. There's a sweetness of fruit and fragrance as sandalwood, arbutus shrub and vanilla bean suffuse lush red cherry, and it flows with grace and ease. Yet as becoming as this seems to be now, it is tightly wound underneath that gracious core – the intricate structure is fashioned for endurance."

"Elisa Sesti recalls that when temperatures started to rise after the abundant rains of
June, the vines burst into growth. That generosity and exuberance is echoed in the
scents brimming in her Brunello. Heather, lavender, mint – even a trace of
helichrysum – all swell from the glass. Less forthcoming on the palate for now, it is
nonetheless replete with lush and juicy red cherry, with some irony notes that weave
throughout. Soft, chalky tannins keep the edges smooth, and although this is rather
tempting to drink now, it should express more with time in the cellar."
