Pago La Jara comes from five exceptional plots of 4ha, planted to Tinto de Toro and a little Albillo Mayor. 4,028 bottles made. This is Toro at its most perfumed and refined. The meaty core and concentration is still there but this is balanced by a very juicy freshness and a gorgeous lifted profile, owing to a small proportion of whole bunch. The wine is aged in a mix of barrels and foudres for 18 months.
THE WINE ADVOCATE 95 - Reviewed by: Luis Gutiérrez - Drink Date: 2024 - 2034
The 2020 Pago La Jara, pure Tinta de Toro from the lieu-dit that names the wine, fermented with indigenous yeasts in 3,000-liter oak vats and matured in 1,500-liter oak foudre and French barriques for 18 months. It's powerful and ripe at 14.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.81 and 4.57 grams of acidity. It's quite classical, and it has power, concentration and ripeness with balance and freshness and a certain elegance. It has fine-grained tannins, with a certain austerity. It should develop nicely in bottle. 4,032 bottles were filled in May 2022.
