Description

IN BRIEF
The 2017 L'Aventure Estate Cuvée is an exceptional blend of 49% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 21% Petit Verdot, showcasing a deep purple-black colour. The nose presents explosive aromas of black cherry and boysenberry preserves, combined with crème de cassis, cedar, and hints of Indian spices. On the palate, it is silky and full-bodied, offering an expansive, spicy, and floral profile, framed by a firm structure. Flavours of baker’s chocolate, thyme, and grilled meats add complexity, while the fresh acidity accentuates the long, dense finish. With a concentration of flavours and remarkable freshness, this wine is delightful now but will benefit from an additional 3-5 years in the bottle, enhancing its layers and richness. It pairs beautifully with rich meats or hearty dishes.

Cabernet Sauvignon with 9% Malbec and 3% Cabernet Franc (for the first time). Concentration and richness with balance and sophistication. Intense, complex aromas of dried figs, fresh herbs, graphite and tobacco. Resolute, ripe and complex, with layered weight and a long finish.

This is a firm, refined red with hazelnut, currant, berry and chocolate character. Iodine, too. Stays subtle and focused. Closed and tight now. Needs three or four years to open. Mostly cabernet sauvignon with malbec and cabernet franc. Try after 2022.

From: Twenty Years that Transformed the Argentine Wine Industry (Oct 2020)
The 2017 Volturno contains grapes from Perdriel (88%) and Los Árboles, mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with 9% Malbec and 3% Cabernet Franc – “to lend shape,” said oenologist Andrés Vignoni. Having spent 18 months aging in 63% new barrels, the resulting wine validates the new path taken by the winery. Deep red in the glass with a violet sheen. The bewitching nose delivers notes of cherry, black currant and a hint of paprika, followed by nuanced aromas of cigar box, acacia and espinillo. Delicate in the mouth, with a firm texture, it is already beginning to feel silky, while the freshness is wrapped in a fluffy, cloud-like body lifted up by the contained energy of the fine-grained tannins. Each precisely calibrated touch makes this an absolute hit on the Argentine wine scene. - By Joaquín Hidalgo on August 2020
