Packed and stacked, with moderate sweetness, high tannin, and a formidable, backstrapping intensity, this impeccably made, rich 2000 will drink well between 2010-2030. A sleeper!"
VINOUS 91 points
Saturated deep ruby. Explosive aromas of blackberry, raspberry and spices, all lifted by a floral element. Juicy, grapey and primary, but already reveals lovely inner-mouth floral perfume. Not hugely dense or sweet but sharply delineated, with firm acids contributing to the impression of structure. Boasts an exhilarating sugar/acid balance and noteworthy vibrancy. Very deep healthy purple. Some green notes on the nose and then a great whack of sweetness but overall the finish is dry. At the moment this is quite painful to taste, which is of course a good sign in vintage port. One of the most youthful wines of the lot with unintegrated fruit, acid and tannin. Quite intriguing.
