Description

Armand Heitz Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru 'Les Chenevottes' beautifully reflects the unique terroir of this prestigious appellation, which spans only 10.99 hectares. The name "Les Chenevottes" references historical hemp cultivation in the area. The stony and clayey soils, combined with excellent exposure, produce wines that are intense and aromatic.

On the palate, this wine offers superb balance, showcasing vibrant aromas of apple and lemon, along with refined minerality and hints of lemon zest. Its complex character reveals pure fruit flavours, with a lingering aftertaste of white pear and a mineral touch. Jancis Robinson rates it 17+ points, emphasising its mineral focus and potential for aging, with optimal enjoyment from 2026 to 2032.

-----

The history of Domaine Heitz-Lochardet dates back to 1857 when Georges Lochardet, a wine merchant, acquired significant vineyards totaling 20 hectares. Following his passing, he left 50% of these vineyards to his son, Armand. After completing his oenology studies in 2011, Armand Heitz reclaimed his mother’s vineyards, converting them to biodynamic farming practices. With guidance from consulting oenologist Ludovic Pierrot, who spent eight years at the renowned Domaine Leflaive, Armand produced his first vintage in 2013.

Armand's winemaking philosophy is encapsulated in the phrase "Working with nature," focusing on organic and biodynamic viticulture alongside agroecology. His wines are characterized by aromatics, balance, and a strong expression of terroir, showcasing classic Burgundian techniques. Notably, Armand employs whole-cluster fermentations, believing that the essence of wine comes from the land. His wines are complex, featuring pure fruit flavours, such as white pear with a mineral touch in the aftertaste.
