Description

This Albariño from the Val do Salnés sub-region of Rías Baixas is crafted from 100% Albarino grapes grown on granitic soils from vines over 50 years old. The meticulous winemaking process includes table-sorting of the grapes, followed by six months of aging on lees in stainless steel tanks and oak vats, with regular batonnage. Unique to this vintage, the wine undergoes an additional six months of aging under the sea at depths of up to 12 metres, preventing oxidation and enhancing its character. It presents an intense, clean straw yellow colour and offers a fresh palate with vibrant acidity. Featuring saline notes and a long finish, this exceptional Albariño embodies both depth and elegance for connoisseurs.

*****

From the sub-region of Val do Salnés in the Rías Baixas region of Northern Spain this wine has been made from 100% Albarino grapes grown on granitic soils on vines that are over 50 years old. The vines are trained in the traditional pergola system and when picked the grapes were table-sorted and the resulting wine aged on its lees in stainless steel tanks and oak vats for 6 months with regular batonnage (stirring the lees). Once in bottle it is aged under the sea at a depth of up to 12 metres for 6 months, avoiding oxidation and creating a unique wine to lay down with long ageing potential.

All this care and attention create a wine with an intense, clean and brilliant straw yellow colour. On the palate it is incredibly fresh, with wonderful racy acidity. Fat and fleshy, full-bodied and salty, underpinned by a long lingering finish.

JAMES SUCKLING 92 points
Fine nose with subtle oyster shells, lime zest, lemongrass and a hint of green olives. Medium-bodied on the palate, showing refined saline minerality with creamy white fruit and green apples. Dry and sleek. Delicious now. - Zekun Shuai.
