Description
Based on Greek Mythology, three cyclops or one- eyed giants named Brontes (thunder), Steropes (lightening) and Arges (brightness) once imprisoned by their father Kronos, who was afraid of their power and then freed by Hades, Zeus and Poseidon to aide them in bringing down Kronos as the Cyclops had great forgery skills. Tridents for Zeus and Poseidon and a magical helmet for Hades were crafted by them.
Semillon is very much a wine that transcends the realm of other white wines . It is not like Chenin Blanc or Sauvignon Blanc but somewhere in between, like the Cyclop’s eye in the middle of their forehead. Arges is bright just like the wine, but its characteristics are voluminous and mythological in some respects.
ORIGIN: 100% Elgin Valley, South Africa. Only 2083 bottles made.
TASTING NOTES: Lyrical brightness that strides over the palate followed by sumptuous baked pears and honeysuckle flowers on the core with lanolin textured length. Well balanced as a canvas for fine dining pairing.
FOOD MATCHING: Pairs best with pork, shellfish, poultry, lean fish, and goat's milk cheese. Its bright energy, complex flavours, and waxy texture make it a versatile pairing for a range of dishes, including Asian cuisine.
