Description

IN BRIEF
The 2017 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is an exceptional wine that captures attention, earning an impressive score of 93-96 points from The Wine Advocate and 91-93 points from Vinous. The Wine Advocate praises its pure bouquet, which unfurls with aromas of lemons, orange blossom, mandarin oil, crushed chalk, and hints of pastry cream. On the palate, this medium to full-bodied wine is satiny and elegant, featuring a deep yet reserved core, vibrant acidity, and a long, mouthwatering finish. Vinous highlights the well-defined nose, noting crushed stone and apple blossom alongside a balanced palate with good weight. With 30% new oak seamlessly integrated, this wine shows great potential and will benefit from 3 to 5 years of aging to fully develop its character.

ABOUT THE WINE

THE WINE ADVOCATE (93-96)
Reviewed by: William Kelley
The 2017 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is showing very well, unfurling in the glass with a pure bouquet of lemons, orange blossom, mandarin oil, crushed chalk and subtle pastry cream. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and elegant, with a deep but reserved core, tangy acids and a long, mouthwatering finish. This is clearly a terrific Chevalier in the making, but it was still comparatively primary when I tasted it, so it will be interesting to revisit from bottle.

From: 2017 Burgundy: A Modern Classic (Jan 2019)
The 2017 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a very well defined bouquet with crushed stone mixing with apple blossom and light, almost petrolly aromas, Riesling-inspired! The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, good weight in the mouth. The 30% new oak is neatly assimilated. Maybe it just needs a little more character and terroir expression to develop on the finish, but there is certainly good length here. It will probably require three to five years in bottle. - By Neal Martin on November 2018
